Monday Oct 25, 2021
Monday Oct 25, 2021
We remember the great, beloved Beatles fan and one of two girls who hung around outside EMI Studios who were asked to contribute vocals to a version of “Across the Universe,” Lizzie Bravo. Meet the Beatles for Real founder Sara Schmidt chats about her friendship with Lizzie and the evolution (and rivalries!) of the ‘60s Beatles fan groups, including the mysterious Apple Scruffs. Plus our obsessions of the week!

Friday Oct 08, 2021
Friday Oct 08, 2021
Last month marked 20 years since 9/11, and while observing the day itself is pretty grim, we couldn’t let the anniversary pass without talking about how Paul channeled that horrible event into some pretty massive (and divisive) musical moments.

“You breathe in and you breathe out. We feel like doing it and we have something to say.” — John Lennon to David Sheff, Playboy, 1980
We’re baaaack! After a bit of a hiatus, we return with something of an explanation — plus, we discuss (and justify our absence with) lessons John Lennon learned during his late-1970s house-husband days.

We round out Women's History Month by speaking with author and academic Christine Feldman-Barrett, author of the new book, A Women's History of the Beatles.
American scholar Christine Feldman-Barrett is a Senior Lecturer in sociology at Griffith University, in Brisbane, Australia, and is a member of the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research. A Women’s History of the Beatles brings a refreshing new perspective to our knowledge of Beatles history, chronicling not only the impact of women on the Beatles, but also how the band has influenced and inspired women for three generations and counting.

Why the Beatles Loved… the Monkees? With Special Guest Andrew Sandoval
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
The creators behind the Monkees’ hit television series (and the band itself) hoped to establish an American Beatles - although the band’s critics would often refer to them as the “Pre-Fab Four.” While much of the music community despised the Monkees, the Beatles… actually loved them. Join us as we explore why with Grammy-nominated producer, historian, and author Andrew Sandoval, whose new book chronicles the Monkees’ entire career from the birth of Peter Tork in 1942 to the very last day of 1970.
Reservations/orders for Andrew Sandoval's book are now closed.
